Plastilose in brief.
Plastilose grows bacterial cellulose and turns it into disposables for healthcare. Its first product is a 30 ml medicine cup, without plastic, coating or additives. The company is based at Biotech Campus Delft.

Our own internal LCA indicates up to about 80% less CO₂ than a plastic cup. It is an internal cradle-to-grave estimate, discussed with an external LCA expert. Formal external verification is not yet complete. Depending on the scenario, the reduction is 48 to 83%. Estimate (details and source)

What we do not claim.
The cup has no compostability certificate, is supplied non-sterile and is not a medical product. No patients take part in the pilot yet. We will publish the results together with Maasstad Ziekenhuis.
