Case Studies
We test our bacterial cellulose medication cups together with hospitals. Here we share what we learn, honestly and transparently.
Plastilose's case studies document the results of pilot programmes with bacterial cellulose medication cups in Dutch hospitals. Each case study contains measurable data on usability, waste reduction and nursing staff satisfaction.
Our approach
Every pilot starts with a question, not a product. Together with the hospital, we map out how many cups are used, on which departments, and where the greatest impact can be achieved.
During the pilot, we collect data on usability, workflow compatibility, material integrity and waste reduction. We do this in close collaboration with nursing staff. Learn more about our technology and what it means for healthcare.
We publish the results transparently. Even when they are disappointing. That is what a pilot means: learning together. Our knowledge base provides the scientific background for this approach.
We always publish our results, regardless of the outcome. Transparency is part of the scientific process.

We work with hospitals that want to lead the way in sustainable healthcare. A pilot is always non-binding and fully customised. We start by listening, not selling.
Through the waitlist you can register your interest. Hospitals that sign up early qualify for the Founding Partner programme, with additional benefits such as co-publication of results and early access to new materials.
A pilot is not a commitment. It is a structured way to discover together whether our materials work in your specific situation. The data always belongs to you.

The Dutch healthcare sector committed to 25% less residual waste by 2026 and 55% CO₂ reduction by 2030. Plastic medication cups are one of the most quickly replaceable product categories.
From 2025, organisations must report indirect supply chain emissions. Every disposable product counts. A measurable reduction starts with the cup.
Dutch health insurers are considering the Environmental Thermometer (Milieuthermometer) as a procurement requirement from 2027. Hospitals that start now are ahead of this requirement.
The pressure on the healthcare sector to become more sustainable is increasing. Yet concrete, measurable steps are often lacking. Our pilots deliver exactly that data. Read more about the regulations in our knowledge base or see how our material fits into the healthcare chain.
